Advanced Centre for Sustainable Socio-Economic and Technological Development (ASSET) is established as a research centre at the School of Computing and Creative Media, University of Technology Sarawak to develop people-centered innovation and technological solutions for sustainable socio-economic development of underserved communities. The centre promotes holistic, people-oriented and community-based contextualized research and development activities, particularly encompassing technological innovations for indigenous communities.

COMSTECH-UTS International Workshop on Renewable Energy: Affordable & Clean Energy for ALL (CURE-ALL), a three-day workshop organized under the COMSTECH Forum on Environment and Ecosystem Restoration (CFEER). The workshop will take place at the University of Technology Sarawak, Malaysia, from September 23–25, 2025.
Dr Gary Loh Chee Wyai, Senior Fellow of ASSET shared his experience as a panelist in a session titled “Mapping Community-Centered Connectivity Initiatives in Asia-Pacific,” co-hosted by the Internet Society, ISEA, and APC. The session was part of Digital Rights Asia-Pacific Assembly (DRAPAC), held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on August 26-27, 2025.
We are thrilled to announce that ASSET Visiting Fellow 2023, Krupa Sekhar, has been awarded the prestigious Yenching Academy Scholarship.
Recognized as one of the world's most competitive fully funded fellowships, the Yenching Scholarship supports an elite interdisciplinary Master’s degree at Peking University.
