Policy and Impact Studies for Identification of Spatially Relevant Aspects of Digital Inclusion in Malaysian Borneo

PROJECT STATUS : Ongoing

RESEARCH SITES : 50 sites

This project aims to develop an analytical grid to analyse digital inclusion in distant and rural Sarawak communities. This report compares the federal and Sarawak State policies on digital inclusion and internet accessibility. The priority of the research is therefore an examination of policy documents for gaps and resolvable issues. In order to have a deeper grasp of the government's digital goals, discussions and interviews also involve policymakers and public authorities. An impact study of USP-funded initiatives (50 sites) is planned for Sarawak's remote and rural communities. Kampung Tanpa Wire (Village Wifi), Pusat Internet (Telecentre), and Telecommunication Towers are among these projects.
