Impact of PDC 2024
Established between 2010 and 2014, the Long Lamai Kindergarten, originally known as Tadika Kemurung, began its journey within the BEM Long Lamai church, operating in the afternoons from Monday to Friday. Initially staffed by three dedicated teachers, the kindergarten has since evolved significantly.
In 2016, the village headman of Long Lamai granted approval for the kindergarten to utilize the Multipurpose Community Hall building, leading to its re-registration as Tadika Mahkota under the Department of Education, Sarawak for the period 2014-2024. The kindergarten, now led by Head Teacher Sharilyn Uda, is supported by two teachers, Teacher Goami and Teacher Hana. Currently, Tadika Mahkota serves 14 students aged 3 to 6 years, with 5 students aged 5 years, 7 students aged 4 years, and 2 students aged 3 years.
During the Participatory Design Conference 2024, a call for book donations resulted in the generous contribution of 100 children's books to Tadika Mahkota (Long Lamai Kindergarten). These donations will help enrich the learning experience for the 14 young students, fostering a love for reading and education in their early years.
